Unbearable Lightness

Sea Eagle

Perched on a crag, touching the clouds; the eagle with the sunlit eye; broad,

fingered wings lift, into winter sky; pulling gale across loch and land;

blessings rain down like snow. The Druid bird soars; breath in motion; conduit,

connector; creator; the bridge that links spirit to earth; Famine or feast,

it is the wind god who decides; the direction and duration of storms and wildfire.

To the scavenger king, tribute is paid in fish and fresh corpses; a petition,

for good health and mercy; prayers for fair winds and following seas.
